Website Copy | Content

Do you need a full website written, landing pages, or just interesting content for your university, college or school? I’ve got plenty of experience to bring to your project.

I can help you with:

  • Website landing pages

  • Website content (for example, content for your department’s research achievements; case studies).

  • Academic course promotion (for example, testimonials, course/programme descriptions, student interviews).

  • Professional services content (for example, informational content on your support services).

  • Any other website content (for example, blog posts).

I have written website content both in-house and freelance for both higher and executive education. As a former university Marketing & Communications Manager I'll bring my experience and marketing eye to everything that I write for you.

Catherine helped us with the content for our department’s anniversary web page by producing paragraphs of personal insight on staff’s research work and an article on the department’s history. She was very patient, collaborative, and professional. Thank you for your great work!

The Department of Methodology

Website Pages: 30th anniversary

Our History: explore 30 years of the Department of Methodology

In Conversation: personal insights from faculty

The Department of Methodology at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2022.

As a freelancer, I was tasked with creating copy for the dedicated webpages on their department website celebrating this event. The project involved gathering and editing profiles for the 24 research and academic staff in the department. Each profile had a celebratory tone and focused on academic achievements, fruitful collaborations, or favourite pieces of research. Alongside other pieces of writing, I created text detailing the history of the department, in collaboration with the Founder and the current Head of Department. The content came together as a great way to mark this special occasion. Read more about this project in my project case study.

Executive Education

Testimonials

Testimonial example one & testimonial example two.

LSE Executive Education, at The London School of Economics and Political Science, offers a range of on-campus and online courses for senior professionals. One way their marketing team attract the highest-calibre students onto their world-class programmes is to showcase previous students and their experience.

My role was to correspond, interview and create 500-word testimonials from 11 previous students. For consistency, each testimonial followed a similar format, drawing out information that would be useful and engaging for future executive education candidates. This was an interesting project, and I got to interview a range of senior professionals from a variety of industries and sectors, creating questions to focus the interview and show LSE in the best possible light.

Department of Government

Case Studies

Case study sample one, case study sample two, case study sample three.

The Department of Government at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) chose 10 of their department submissions to the Research Excellence Framework (REF 2021) to be re-written into case studies. The Research Excellence Framework (REF) is used as a way to assess the quality of research in higher education institutions.

The REF submissions contained complex academic material which I used to create concise and accessible case studies. Each of the 10 case studies was around 800 words and followed a standard format for consistency and readability.

Landing Pages: postgraduate, undergraduate, international students

Rose Bruford College asked me to re-write the landing pages for their three main study areas: undergraduate, postgraduate, and information for international students. I created each of the landing pages with a similar structure, labelling each of the keyword-rich headings <H1>, <H2>, <H3>, <H4> depending on their place in the hierarchy of information.

The landing pages were created to be a concise source of information specific to their audience with high-level information available, with links to further information on all aspects of that particular area of study.

Rose Bruford College

Website Pages: webinars and open days

Rose Bruford College were looking to create webpages dedicated to promoting their webinars for prospective undergraduate, postgraduate, and international students, alongside a separate webpage detailing their virtual and in-person Open Days. Webinars are a key way in which the College talk to prospective students in more depth about their chosen area of study and a chance for students to ask important questions before they choose to apply to the College.

Website Pages: Menu of Opportunities

The Menu of Opportunities Programme was a new initiative at LSE Careers, with a goal to join up, curate and enhance the range of opportunities available to students to be collected in one place and presented on the LSE website. Alongside a full copy-edit of the approximately 160 entries into the Menu of Opportunities Programme, the freelance project consisted of me editing and writing copy to ensure each entry was consistent.

Freelance website copywriter

Website Pages: LSE Communications Division

As in-house Marketing & Communications Manager, I wrote web copy, edited submitted content and uploaded the relevant branding documents for this internal branding portal for LSE. The branding portal's purpose was to showcase all of LSE's brand guidelines in an easy-to-use format.

LSE Enterprise

Website Pages

As in-house Marketing & Communications Manager at LSE Enterprise, along with the input of key stakeholders, I designed, wrote, edited and maintained the webpages for LSE Enterprise (including LSE Custom Programmes). The webpages encompassed the promotion of customised executive education programmes, open-enrolment courses, news, and events amongst other things.

I created separate website copy for conferences, innovation, and educational programmes all targeting a range of industries from pharmaceuticals, pension providers, and the public sector.

LSE Enterprise was the commercial arm of The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). This subsidiary has since been re-distributed within the university.
